ROME (Reuters) – Mexican club Herving Lozano has signed a contract with Napoli from PSV Eindhoven during the summer transfer window.
Napoli did not disclose the value of the deal, but reports said it was estimated at 42 million euros, making Lozano the most expensive player in the history of Partenope.
It is reported that Lozano's contract with the new club will extend until 2024, and will receive four million euros a year, with a penalty requirement of 130 million euros.
Lozano started his career as a professional with Mexican club Pachuca in 2014, scoring 43 goals in four seasons before moving to PSV Eindhoven (2017-18).
The 24-year-old has scored 45 goals and made 23 more in 83 PSV games over the past two seasons, winning the Dutch league title in the first season.
With Mexico, Lozano glowed at Russia 2018 and scored a remarkable goal against Germany in the opening match, before his side was knocked out in the last 16.
Lozano played a total of 35 caps, scoring nine goals, but missed out on injury in the 2019 Golden Cup, which ended with Mexico winning.
Napoli will open their season in Calcio (2019-2020) under the leadership of veteran coach Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday, facing hosts Fiorentina at nine o'clock quarter.
