The daily balance of the Directorate-General for Health confirms 140 for deaths and 6,408 cases of confirmed infections.
The epidemiological situation report in Portugal, with data updated until midnight on Sunday, indicates that the North region is the one with the highest number of deaths (74), followed by the Central region (34), the region of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, with 30 deaths, and the Algarve, which today registers two deaths.
According to DGS, there are 4,845 people waiting for the results of the analyzes and 11,482 thousand are under surveillance.
Monday’s figures show that 571 patients are hospitalized, 164 of whom are in intensive care.
The recovered cases remain at 43.
Portugal, where the first confirmed cases were registered on 2 March, has been in a state of emergency since 00:00 on 19 March and until 23:59 on 2 April. In addition, the Government declared on the 17th the state of public calamity for the municipality of Ovar.
The new coronavirus, responsible for the Covid-19 pandemic, has already infected nearly 728,000 people worldwide, of whom more than 33,000 have died. There are still 150,000 people who have recovered.
