Each year the SDIS (service departmental fire and rescue services) is recruiting an average of 250 volunteer firefighters, to replace the 250 runners.
– Be 18 years of age. “given the risks of fire in forests we don’t recruit, in the Alpes-Maritimes, from 18 years of age, compared to 16 years elsewhere” explains colonel Alain Leflon, chargé de mission the volunteer emergency response centre in the framework of the meetings of the security 2017, organized by the Prefecture, on Wednesday at Cap 3000.
– pass a medical examination
– an interview with the head of the grouping of territorial to which you belong : group Nice Mountain or grouping west
– pass the selection tests, the same as for becoming a professional firefighter, “to integrate the barracks coastal only. Due to high demand, we are forced to decide between the voluntary” explains colonel Alain Leflon.
The average age of volunteer firefighters is 30 years old and 14% of them are women.
