Santa Claus is accused of acts of slavery against goblins and repeated abuse of reindeer.
An opportunity for the general public to discover the functioning of a court of assizes, explains the association which organizes the event.

This is an unusual trial that opens Thursday night. Santa in person will appear before the special assize court of Lapland, exceptionally relocated to the auditorium E of the law school of the Tertre campus (800 seats). What is criticized to the accused ? Acts of slavery against goblins and repeated abuse of reindeer. The old gentleman would risk even a long prison sentence …

The Tribuns , a young student association that organizes public speaking sessions, offers to all those who wish to come to attend this trial, obviously fictitious (from 18:30, subject to availability). “The idea is that everyone can discover the functioning of a court of assizes , even if there will be some liberties, for the entertainment side, “says Frédéric Lefèvre, L3 law student, who will take on the role of the general advocate.

Two lawyers will play the game

At the helm will be the director of investigation at the North Pole Investigation Bureau, the elves victims, the mother who supports her husband, but also the groom of the reindeer or a psychiatric expert, all played by students of the association (others will be jurors, assessors, etc.). But to defend the interests of both parties, famous lawyers of the Bar of Nantes, Me Loic Cabioch and me Franck Boezec , responded to the invitation.

“We sent them a file with the elements of the investigation so that they prepare their strategies, continues Frédéric Lefèvre. I think they are happy to come in a more relaxed setting than their usual environment! After about two hours, the association promises that the public will finally have the answer to the question that everyone asks: is Santa really a junk?
