Claude Lelouch was stolen his “magic suitcases”: The French filmmaker told the Parisian have been stolen bags containing many personal documents including the only copy of the scenario of his next film.
The flight took place a week before the premises of his production company, Films 13, Avenue Hoche, in Paris (VIII), while the filmmaker was returning from vacation. He had just parked and pulled out three bags of his vehicle. “The time to go around the car, two bags were gone,” said the director daily.
A screenplay and thousands of pages of missing notes
According to the newspaper, one of the bags contained the only copy of the scenario of the 80-year-old director’s next film, Yes and no.
The director of A man and a woman also confessed to having lost several notebooks representing “a thousand pages”, covered with notes, testimonies, observations and things seen for fifty years.
“I was stolen magical suitcases, those that have accompanied me all my life and in which I draw my inspiration,” lamented Claude Lelouch who also lost in this mishap 15,000 euros “in various currencies”, his keys, his passport and a watch.
“I always have with me a reserve of money in case I have to go abroad,” the filmmaker explained on a daily basis.
